NAO: For All We Know
UK singer NAO shot into people's lives when her song Bad Blood went viral on soundcloud last year, netting nearly 3 million plays. She was also featured on Disclosure's album Caracal on one of the standout tracks Superego. Already having released two EP's, For All We Know represents her first complete project/album. This record shows her mixing together funk melodies with soul, synth-pop and electronic elements. One of our favourite songs on the album Trophy, a collaboration with A.K. Paul, features Prince-influenced distorted guitars and vocals.
""A lot of the production started with me. That should be the focal point," she states, adding that she’s always felt more like an album artist than someone who churns out singles or dominates playlists. "I’ve got a few things to say in a lot of different ways. An album is the way to explore that." True to the title of the song "Get To Know Ya," this LP is essentially an extended meet-and-greet session, but without the awkward handshakes and lucrative fees. By the end of it, NAO’s true identity is clear."
