SWIDT release visuals for the hyped No More Parties In Stoneyhunga
The SWIDT crew have released the visuals for their viral-hit No More Parties In Stoneyhunga (premiered by SNIFFERS). Props must be given to Askew One (and the team) for directing the video and producing the gorgeous drone shots over the
Mangere Onehunga Bridge. The track, a play on Kanye's LA version contains verses by emcees Spycc and INF, along with additional vocals by Boomer. Crew member JAMAL served up the production with a little assistance (and mixing) by SmokeyGotBeatz. Fellow producer AZA rounds out the team, so you can be sure that they won't be running out of beats anytime soon.. As the title would suggest the boys proudly rep Auckland suburb Onehunga, and have been doing so for a while. With NMPIS being the first official song/video release from this collective it serves as an extremely exciting time for them and New Zealand hip-hop. Local reactions to the video have been overwhelmingly positive with fellow artists like David Dallas, P-Money, Raiza Biza and more throwing their support behind the group.
The gang played another track (sitting in the vaults) See What I Did There during their takeover on SNIFFERS Blog's show on George FM last night. It wasn't as if we needed any further confirmation of their skills and the impending movement but we actually think this next track might even be better than NMPIS. Hard-hitting instrumentals, differing flows, back-and-forth rap duels, but laid-back at the same time. That seems to be the essence of what makes SWIDT so great and why they will be a force to be reckoned with in
New Zealand hip-hop, period.
